ISLAMABAD: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has called on citizens and media users to exercise restraint in commentary on foreign policy matters, emphasizing the need for responsible journalism amid current regional tensions. His remarks were made during a press conference in Islamabad, accompanied by Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar and State Minister for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhary.

According to Radio Pakistan, Azam Nazeer Tarar underscored the importance of prioritizing national interests and exercising caution in media reporting. He cited Article 19 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression, but noted that the law imposes reasonable restrictions to prevent compromising relationships with allied nations. He highlighted that public discourse should be mindful of the integrity and security of Pakistan, as well as its diplomatic relations.

The Minister pointed to the region’s challenging circumstances, noting Pakistan’s efforts to alleviate tensions through strategic diplomacy. He mentioned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent discussions with regional leaders and the decision to delay a visit to Russia due to the prevailing situation.

Minister Attaullah Tarar echoed these sentiments, urging the media to align with the state narrative and prioritize national interests over personal biases. He lauded the Foreign Office’s pivotal role in managing the current situation and cautioned against sensationalism in media coverage, which he argued could be detrimental to Pakistan’s foreign relations.
