Jammu: An Indian army soldier was injured after accidentally stepping on a landmine in the Mendhar area of Poonch district in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred during a routine operation near the Balakote Sector.
Officials reported that the soldier, identified as Vinoth Kumar S, sustained injuries to his right foot as a result of the explosion. He was promptly transported to Rajouri hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate incident in the Ganderbal district, a minor boy was fatally injured when struck by a vehicle in the Kullan Gund area. The pedestrian, three-year-old Mohammad Hussain, was hit by a Taveera vehicle. Despite being rushed to Sub-District Hospital Kangan, the boy was declared dead upon arrival.
Another accident occurred in the Bandipora district, where a tractor fell into a deep gorge in the Duban Onagam area. One person, Mohammad Yaseen from Malangam village, lost his life in the incident. A second individual, Bilal Ahmad from Quil, Bandipora, sustained injuries and was taken to a local medical facility before being referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced in the region, where routine activities can quickly turn perilous.
