LAHORE: A special clean-up drive took place at Jilani Park, organized by the Horticulture Agency Lahore in observance of World Cleanup Day. The event saw active participation from the agency’s officers and staff, alongside teachers and students from Beaconhouse School. Ahmad Usman Javed, Managing Director of the Horticulture Agency Lahore, served as the chief guest.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the clean-up drive focused on collecting plastic waste, food waste, and other litter from various lawns and surrounding areas of Jilani Park. Participants aimed to foster awareness about cleanliness and environmental responsibility. Ahmad Usman Javed emphasized the importance of integrating cleanliness into daily life rather than limiting it to a single-day event. He called for minimizing waste and encouraged proper waste disposal as part of efforts to maintain a clean, green, and beautiful Lahore.

Javed also highlighted the shared responsibility of keeping parks and green belts clean while protecting trees and plants. He urged citizens to develop habits that contribute to environmental protection. Beaconhouse School students echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of cleanliness as a societal value. They reiterated that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility.

The World Cleanup Day activity sought to raise awareness among citizens, particularly students, about the significance of cleanliness, environmental protection, and responsible civic behavior. The Horticulture Agency Lahore plans to continue its efforts in promoting these initiatives for the betterment of the city.
