Lahore, In an extensive display of preparedness, Lahore Police deployed over 2,300 personnel to secure the city during the significant observances of Jumat Al-Wada (the last Friday of Ramadan) and Al-Quds Day, ensuring the safety of participants in prayers and rallies. This deployment included senior officers and a wide network of security personnel tasked with maintaining peace and order during these pivotal religious events.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana highlighted the comprehensive security measures put in place. For Jumat Al-Wada gatherings, the police force included 06 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 22 Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), 83 Station House Officers (SHOs), and 260 upper subordinates. Al-Quds Day saw the deployment of more than 700 police personnel, including 04 SPs, 08 SDPOs, 22 SHOs, and 138 upper subordinates, tasked specifically with rally security.
Kamiana emphasized the meticulous planning and coordination efforts that ensured the safety of Al-Quds Day rally participants. Police officers maintained constant communication with the organizers, and entry was strictly regulated through designated points. The Safe Cities Authority played a crucial role in continuous monitoring, while specialized units like the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit conducted effective patrolling.
The CCPO also mentioned measures taken to manage traffic flow and reinforce security at city entry and exit points during these events. The intensified checking and monitoring at checkpoints were part of broader efforts to prevent any disruptive activities. Additionally, Kamiana stated that operations to counter potential threats, including search, sweep, combing, and intelligence-based actions, have been accelerated.
These extensive security arrangements reflect the Lahore Police’s commitment to ensuring the peaceful observance of Jumat Al-Wada and Al-Quds Day, marking a significant achievement in public safety and event management.
