Lahore, In a significant move to bolster support for the families of martyrs, veterans, and retired police employees, the Lahore Police has disbursed substantial financial assistance and benefits over the past year.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana outlined the scope of the welfare initiatives during a press release today. He reported that over 35 million rupees were allocated from the District Welfare Fund to 1,494 police employees in the fiscal year 2023-24. Educational scholarships worth over 91 million rupees have been awarded to children of police personnel, and a subsistence allowance totaling 18.7 million rupees has been distributed to 549 deserving families.
The Lahore Police have also been active in providing medical financial aid, with 2.7 million rupees distributed among 365 employees. Additionally, homes have been provided for the families of 15 martyrs, and wedding gifts totaling 3.7 million rupees have been presented to daughters of martyrs on their wedding days.
In terms of career advancement, 4,600 police employees were promoted, and 305 children of police personnel were recruited under the martyr and family claim category. The department also provided timely burial grants totaling 15.5 million rupees.
CCPO Kamyana emphasized the ongoing commitment of Lahore Police to the welfare of its community, stating that the welfare of martyrs, veterans, and their families remains a top priority. He encouraged those in need to reach out to the Lahore Police Welfare Branch and assured that his office is always open to address any issues they might face.
