PESHAWAR: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of failing to protect the lives of its citizens, asserting that the current administration lacks the resolve to combat terrorism effectively.
According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar delivered a televised message in which he criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, claiming its policies inadvertently support terrorism in the province. He suggested that the PTI must decide whether its allegiance lies with Pakistan or Afghanistan, accusing the party of benefiting from Pakistan while extending favors to Afghanistan.
Tarar further criticized the PTI for its inconsistent policies, accusing it of engaging in talks without relinquishing its perceived duplicity. He expressed concern over the ongoing violence in the province, alleging that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is preoccupied with securing the release of a prisoner rather than addressing security issues.
The minister questioned the PTI government’s failure to convene meetings of the Provincial Apex Committee, a body designed to address counter-terrorism efforts. He highlighted that, despite receiving over Rs700 billion under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award for counter-terrorism initiatives, the PTI has not adequately addressed the province’s security challenges.
Tarar assured that the federal government remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
