Peshawar, Discussions for a new Gems Processing and Export Center in Peshawar were initiated by a delegation of the Sarafa Zargran Gems and Jewelry Traders and Exporters Association, who met with Abdul Karim Tordhir, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Industries, Crafts, and Technical Education. The meeting underscored the provincial government’s intent to boost the local gem industry and increase export capabilities.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the proposed center aims to capitalize on Peshawar’s pivotal role in the regional gem trade by providing modern facilities that would enhance production and economic development. Tordhir assured the delegation that the initiative would involve collaboration with relevant associations to ensure the project’s success, highlighting its potential to create thousands of jobs and significantly boost the province’s revenue from gem exports. This development is poised to reinforce Peshawar’s standing as a key player in the precious stones business in Asia.
