Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Demands High Standards for Medicinal Services in ESSI Facilities

Peshawar, In a firm stance on healthcare quality, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Labor, Fazal Shakur Khan, has declared that the quality of life-saving medicines and ambulance services at Employees Social Security Institutions (ESSI) must meet the highest standards without compromise. The minister’s directive includes the immediate setup of new medicine stores in several key cities to enhance access to essential healthcare services for workers.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during his visit to the Employees Social Security Institution in Peshawar, Minister Khan emphasized the need for strict adherence to quality standards in the provision of life-saving drugs. He noted that the quality and service efficiency of ambulances must be improved and strictly used for their intended medical purposes; otherwise, responsible officers will face consequences for negligence.

The minister’s directives came following a detailed briefing he received at the ESSI, where it was revealed that 355 million rupees have been allocated for the medicine sector, with 340 million rupees already expended. To further enhance healthcare services for workers, Minister Khan ordered the immediate establishment of medicine stores in Dera Ismail Khan, Swat, and Nowshera, aiming to ensure quick and effective treatment for workers.

The visit also included inspections of various departments within the institution, where Minister Khan interacted with staff and reviewed operational workflows to reinforce his directives on service quality and efficiency.
