Karachi: A crucial meeting on the rehabilitation and development of Karachi’s industrial zones was convened at the Commissioner Office, jointly chaired by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi. The session was attended by representatives from various industrial trade associations, the Secretary Labour, and other pertinent officials.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the meeting featured comprehensive briefings from trade and industrial associations on proposed development schemes in their respective areas. The SITE Super Highway Association suggested projects valued at Rs 600 million, while KITE put forward proposals worth Rs 2 billion. The FB Area Association presented development projects totaling Rs 859 million, with Rs 2 billion earmarked for the Landhi Association, and Rs 1 billion for the North Karachi Association. Additionally, the Bin Qasim Industrial Area reviewed schemes totaling Rs 621 million.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the rehabilitation and development of the city’s industrial zones are a primary focus for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. He pledged that development efforts would be expedited through fast-track implementation under a public-private partnership framework.
The Mayor also assured that funding for trade and industrial associations would commence soon to ensure timely project completion. He requested associations to provide completion timelines along with their proposed schemes to facilitate prompt relief for traders and citizens.
Mayor Wahab reiterated his commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to transform Karachi into a modern and developed industrial city.
