Kashmiris Worldwide Commemorate Jammu Martyrs’ Day

Srinagar: Kashmiris around the world and on both sides of the Line of Control are observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day today. The day serves as a reminder to uphold the mission of those who lost their lives in 1947, with a focus on achieving the UN-recognized right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.

According to Radio Pakistan, November 6 marks the anniversary of the 1947 massacre when hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by Dogra forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian troops, and Hindutva groups. These events took place across various parts of the Jammu region as victims attempted to migrate to Pakistan.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid tribute to the martyrs, labeling the massacre as a significant and tragic episode in Kashmir’s history. Statements issued in Srinagar by Hurriyat leaders described the events as genocide and ethnic cleansing, suggesting it was part of a deliberate plan to alter the demographic makeup of Jammu’s Muslim majority.

The leaders and organizations have called on the international community to address the ongoing violence against Kashmiris by Indian troops in the region.
