SRINAGAR, The Kashmir valley witnessed a fresh spell of snowfall in its higher reaches and heavy rains in the plains on Friday morning, causing a notable decrease in the maximum temperature across the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the snowfall affected areas such as Bandipora district’s Razdan top, Machil, Pir Ki Gali, Keran, Razdan Pass, Zojjila Pass, Sinthan Top, Sonamarg, and Gulmarg. In contrast, the plains, including the Srinagar district, experienced a heavy downpour.
The rains extended to other parts of the Kashmir valley, contributing to a significant dip in the day’s highest temperatures.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted a gradual reduction in precipitation starting late afternoon. The weather from the 11th to 17th of November is expected to be mainly dry with warmer days ahead, as per the department’s official.
In terms of rainfall measurements in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, Srinagar recorded 17.5mm, Qazigund 12.0mm, Pahalgam 6.4mm, Kupwara 29.8mm, Kokernag 5.8mm, and Gulmarg 22.2mm (along with 10.4 cm of snow). In the Jammu region, Jammu city received 42.0mm of rain, Banihal 21.4mm, Batote 17.2mm, Bhaderwah 3.6mm, Katra 33.4mm, and Kathua had no rainfall.
