Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains an unfinished agenda of the United Nations. In a speech delivered on United Nations Day, Dar emphasized the importance of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, urging that it should not be overlooked in favor of geopolitical considerations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the principles outlined in the UN Charter. He highlighted that Pakistan’s foreign policy is guided by the vision of its founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and is based on sovereign equality, non-interference, self-determination, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
Dar also underscored Pakistan’s preference for diplomacy over confrontation, engagement over isolation, and partnership over polarization. He affirmed the country’s belief in an inclusive, representative, and reformed multilateralism, advocating for a stronger voice for developing countries in international decision-making processes.
