Islamabad: Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir is being observed today to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to denounce India’s actions on August 5, 2019. These actions involved the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, which has faced widespread rejection from the international community, as well as from Kashmiris and Pakistanis.
According to Radio Pakistan, the day is marked by various events, including a rally on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad, which will see participation from federal ministers and parliament members. Sirens will sound, and a minute of silence will be observed at 9 a.m. Similar rallies are planned across Pakistan, including in its four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Radio Pakistan will also air special programs focusing on the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and the reported human rights violations in the region.
