Karachi, In a major push to restore Karachi’s aesthetic appeal, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has overseen the removal of flags, banners, and panaflexes from key city highways and roads. This initiative is part of a broader effort to beautify the city, which includes painting and greening major thoroughfares.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the cleanup operation targeted several high-traffic areas, including Sharea Faisal from the airport to the Governor’s House, and from the nursery at Sharah e Quaideen to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum. The campaign extended through major corridors like Clifton, from the 2 Talwar roundabout to Clifton Bridge and Metropole, and from the Cantt Station to the PIDC. Efforts also included the removal of wall chalking and the application of fresh paint in these areas.
Mayor Wahab has further directed the Municipal Services Department to decorate all entrances to Karachi with attractive carvings to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. He also called on Karachi citizens to assist in keeping their neighborhoods clean and maintained, likening the effort to caring for one’s home.
The beautification drive already underway at Shara-e-Faisal and other significant locations will also include landscaping to add green spaces to the urban environment, enhancing the visual and environmental quality of the city.
