Karachi Workshop Addresses Human Rights Information System Enhancements

KARACHI: The Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR), in partnership with the European Union in Pakistan and UNDP Pakistan, convened a two-day workshop aimed at re-operationalizing the Human Rights Information Management System (HRIMS) in Karachi on October 13-14, 2026. The event, part of the EU Huqooq-e-Pakistan II Project, focused on equipping provincial staff with the necessary skills to manage and report on human rights data effectively.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, the workshop featured the installation and configuration of HRIMS equipment. It provided orientation for Provincial Treaty Implementation Cell staff and capacity building for provincial line departments’ focal persons. These sessions included training on indicator-based reporting, data entry, quality assurance, user management, and reporting procedures.

Mr. Iqbal Pasha, Regional Director of the Ministry of Human Rights, addressed participants on the role of HRIMS in enhancing human rights data collection, management, and reporting. He noted that the system is expected to improve the timeliness and accuracy of data submissions, support evidence-based analysis, and boost coordination between federal and provincial institutions to meet both national and international human rights reporting requirements.
