Karachi Unveils Renovated International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court


Karachi, The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has officially reopened the International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court following its recent renovation, aiming to boost local sports infrastructure and prepare athletes for the upcoming Sindh Games. The inauguration ceremony was led by the Director General of the Development Agency Karachi, Naveed Anwar, who emphasized the court’s renovation as a step towards enhancing sports facilities for players in the region.



According to Karachi Development Authority, the renovation work was completed under the directive of DG KDA Naveed Anwar, marking a significant contribution to the city’s sports landscape. Anwar highlighted the KDA’s commitment to fostering sports among the youth and facilitating sports activities throughout Karachi. The rejuvenation of the basketball court is seen as a timely move, coinciding with the organization of the Sindh Games after an eight-year hiatus, signaling a revitalized focus on sports development.



During his visit to the ongoing training camp for the Sindh Games at the basketball court, DG KDA expressed optimism about Karachi’s prospects in the games. The event was also attended by notable figures, including Secretary General of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, Asghar Azim, who commended Anwar’s efforts in reviving sports culture in Karachi and addressing organizational issues swiftly.



The ceremony saw the participation of Chief Engineer KDA Tariq Rafi, Sports Organizer M Naseem, KDA Spokesman Akar Sattar, Ayaz Munshi, and other dignitaries. The Karachi Basketball Association, represented by President Ghulam Mohammad and newly elected Secretary Shahid Usman, extended a warm welcome to the KDA officials, highlighting the collaborative effort to promote sports in the city.



The reopening of the International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court is a testament to the KDA’s dedication to sports and the athletes of Karachi, promising regular support for sporting events and facilities in the future.
