Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Council convened a general meeting at its head office on Thursday, chaired by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, with Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad in attendance. The council approved 14 resolutions, including a strong condemnation of recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran, which reportedly led to the death of senior Iranian leadership and civilian casualties.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the council’s resolutions included calls for global powers to intervene and halt the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The council also expressed deep sorrow over the recent fire incident at Gul Plaza, which claimed over 80 lives and destroyed more than 1,200 shops, offering prayers for the victims and their families.

Additional resolutions addressed local administrative issues such as transferring certain posts to the Estate Department, upgrading the Senior Speech Therapist position at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, establishing a Fresh Animal Sale Point, and allowing KMC hospitals to fully utilize their user charges. The council also approved financial reallocations, increases in revolving accounts for various departments, and the naming of the Five Star Chowrangi Flyover in honor of Shaheed Najeeb Ahmed. Plans for a new Karachi Museum and infrastructure improvements in Korangi were also sanctioned.

Five resolutions passed unanimously, while the remaining nine were approved by majority vote. The session concluded with expressions of views from various council members and was adjourned indefinitely.
