Karachi, The Sindh Police, in collaboration with the Federal Human Rights Department of Pakistan, has launched the Zara Alert/Roshni Helpline No. 1138, a significant initiative aimed at the recovery and rehabilitation of missing, abducted, and abused children. The inaugural session, led by IG Sindh Rifaat Mukhtar Raja and Federal Secretary for Human Rights Department AD Khawaja, took place at the Central Police Office in Karachi, marking a pivotal step in enhancing child protection in the region.
According to Sindh Police, the helpline is designed to facilitate the immediate reporting of missing children cases to the nearest police station. The comprehensive service requires the provision of detailed information about the child, including their photo, home address, and contact details, ensuring swift action and support. The initiative is part of the broader efforts under the Roshni Helpline to safeguard children’s rights and provide a rapid response mechanism for affected families.
The meeting emphasized the importance of widespread awareness and training for police personnel on the Zara Alert system, with IG Sindh mandating the display of informational materials at all police stations and the incorporation of related training in police education centers. The objective extends beyond crime prevention to include the prosecution of offenders and the coordination of efforts between police and social organizations like Roshni to effectively tackle the issue of child disappearances and abductions.
The launch event was attended by key figures, including Muhammad Ali, Executive Director of Roshni Helpline, and senior officers from the Central Police Office, highlighting a collective commitment to combat crimes against children and ensure their safety and well-being through the Zara Alert and Roshni Helpline initiative.
