Karachi: Mayor Murtaza Wahab has officially launched Pakistan’s largest 15-day “Salam Karachi” festival, coinciding with the “Azadi Festival and Defence Day” celebrations, aiming to enhance the city’s image and foster unity among its residents. The event, organized by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, will run from August 25 to September 7, featuring a variety of cultural, recreational, and musical activities across the city.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the festival was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by prominent city officials, including Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and KMC Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffer, along with students and local leaders. Mayor Wahab emphasized Karachi’s significance as an economic and social hub, stating that the city’s progress directly impacts Pakistan’s development. He urged citizens to work collectively to dispel negative perceptions and showcase Karachi’s vibrant identity on a global stage.

The “Salam Karachi” Festival will host a series of events, such as a Grand Bazaar, cultural shows, family festivals, talent hunts, and musical nights. Sports enthusiasts can participate in bike and cycle rallies, while food lovers can enjoy a dedicated food festival. The festivities aim to unite the community, transcending individual interests to focus on Karachi’s future. Mayor Wahab highlighted the need for collective efforts to overcome challenges and ensure the city’s growth, reinforcing that Karachi belongs to everyone and should be celebrated as a symbol of national pride.
