Justice Farah Jamshed Highlights Mediation as a Complementary Justice Mechanism

Peshawar: The International Mediation and Arbitration Center (IMAC), under the Ministry of Law and Justice, recently concluded a two-day foundation training on mediation at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) in Peshawar. The event underscored the role of mediation in delivering justice.

According to Press Information Department, the training’s closing ceremony featured Hon’ble Ms. Justice Farah Jamshed of the Peshawar High Court as the Chief Guest. Justice Jamshed emphasized that mediation, alongside court systems, serves the shared goal of ensuring fair and timely justice. She remarked on the tradition of dispute resolution through dialogue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, noting that modern mediation builds on this heritage with a focus on neutrality and constitutional safeguards.

Justice Jamshed also shared insights from her recent completion of an Accredited Mediation Training by IMAC, stressing the importance of continuous professional learning. She encouraged participants to promote dialogue and peaceful dispute resolution in their communities.

The training covered mediation principles, communication, negotiation skills, and conflict management through interactive sessions and role plays. Ms. Aisha Rasool, Senior Consultant and Project Director IMAC, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the program’s success and highlighted its role in enhancing access to justice and public awareness about mediation.

Dr. Syed Atta ur Rehman, Lead Trainer, spoke on mediation’s growing importance in reducing conflict and fostering consensus. Participants appreciated the program as a valuable opportunity to understand mediation as a practical dispute resolution method.

The event gathered civil servants, lawyers, and professionals from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to deepen their understanding of mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants.
