Karachi: The Government of Japan has facilitated the transformation of 20 primary girls’ schools into elementary schools in rural Sindh, aiming to enhance educational opportunities for young girls. The project, backed by a grant of 1,686 million Japanese Yen, was officially inaugurated at a ceremony in Karachi, where key dignitaries and stakeholders celebrated the completion of this educational initiative.

According to Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the project has successfully expanded and improved 60 classrooms, thereby providing a safer learning environment for approximately 2,400 girls annually. This initiative allows students to continue their education in their local communities, addressing educational gaps in underserved areas.

During the inauguration, Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi emphasized Japan’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s education sector, particularly by enhancing opportunities for girls. He expressed optimism that the improved facilities would inspire more girls to pursue education and play active roles in their communities.

Mr. Shinozaki Yusuke, Chief Representative of the JICA Pakistan Office, highlighted the effective collaboration among the Government of Sindh, local stakeholders, and project partners in achieving this milestone. He underscored that the upgraded schools would significantly contribute to the learning and growth of female students.
