Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Denounces Escalating Violence and Blasphemy in India

New Delhi: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), a prominent Muslim organization in India, has publicly denounced the increasing violence targeting Muslims and their places of worship, as well as derogatory comments made toward Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by various Hindutva groups. The announcement was made during their monthly press conference at the organization’s headquarters in New Delhi, where a series of attacks on mosques and religious sites across several states, including Gujarat and Tripura, were highlighted.

According to Kashmir Media Service, JIH chief Syed Sadatullah Husaini detailed the disturbing events, including the illegal demolition of a 500-year-old cemetery in Gujarat and the defacement of a mosque in Bihar’s Kanchanpur district. He criticized the local authorities’ inaction and the blatant violations of Supreme Court orders regarding these incidents. Husaini further condemned the derogatory remarks made against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, which he sees as indicative of a broader decline in moral standards within the country.

The press briefing also touched on broader national and international concerns. Husaini called for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the recent orderly elections provided no basis for continued central control, which he believes undermines India’s federal and democratic ethos. Additionally, he voiced opposition to the proposed “One Nation, One Election” policy, suggesting it poses a threat to the country’s federal structure.

On an international note, Husaini expressed serious concerns about the escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the potential for conflict between Israel and Iran. He called for UN intervention to prevent further aggression, enforce a ceasefire, and hold parties accountable for violations of international law.
