Lahore: The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has finalized its electoral strategy for the upcoming general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, scheduled for June 7, and announced nine candidates for the region’s constituencies. Party President Abdul Aleem Khan chaired the meeting, where the 20-member Electoral Board outlined their plans and discussed potential alliances.
According to Press Information Department, the candidates named for the upcoming elections include Maulana Sultan Rais, Fatahullah Khan, Captain (r) Shafi Ullah Khan, Emaan Shah, Raja Jalal Hussain, Shams-ul-Haq Lone, Haji Shah Baig, Haji Gulbar Khan, and Khan Akbar Khan. The Party plans to announce candidates for the remaining constituencies in the coming days. Discussions are underway for a possible electoral alliance with the Islamic Tehreek Pakistan, and IPP’s future strategies will be shaped by the moves of other political entities. The Party also intends to finalize its candidates for the nine reserved seats for women and technocrats shortly.
During the meeting, senior Party leadership provided updates on the electoral landscape in Gilgit-Baltistan. Key figures present included MNA Munnaza Hassan, Central Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood, Punjab President Rana Nazir Ahmad Khan, and others from across the regions. Participants, including members from Gilgit-Baltistan, conveyed their confidence in Abdul Aleem Khan’s leadership and expressed optimism for IPP’s success in the elections.
