ISLAMABAD: Over 72,000 traffic violators faced penalties in Islamabad during August as part of a comprehensive effort by the Islamabad Traffic Police to enforce traffic laws and enhance road safety. The month’s initiatives also included extensive educational campaigns aimed at encouraging compliance with traffic regulations.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the August performance report detailed enforcement actions targeting various traffic violations across the city. The report outlined penalties for more than 13,000 lane violations, over 5,000 incidents of wrong-way driving, more than 10,000 instances of illegal parking, and over 5,300 cases of motorcyclists riding without helmets.

In addition to issuing fines, authorities impounded more than 7,000 vehicles and motorcycles for traffic law violations. The enforcement efforts also addressed vehicles with tinted windows and unauthorized rickshaws entering the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Alongside these measures, the police implemented extensive awareness activities, reaching over 130,000 citizens with information on traffic laws, road safety, and responsible driving. The outreach included sessions for employees of various organizations, educational institutions, and students of the Road Education Uraan Driving School.

Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainaat Azhar Khan emphasized the dual focus on enforcement and public awareness to ensure compliance with traffic regulations. She highlighted the ongoing efforts to discourage violations, prevent accidents, and improve traffic flow, urging citizens to adhere to traffic laws and prioritize safety.

The Chief Traffic Officer reiterated that ensuring a safe and convenient travel environment remains a top priority for the Islamabad Traffic Police, with ongoing initiatives to curb violations and enhance the traffic management system in the federal capital.
