KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the improvement and rehabilitation project of a dual carriageway in Block J, North Nazimabad, District Central, on Thursday. The project, aimed at enhancing travel facilities for citizens, was attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, city council members, elected representatives, and other officials.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the dual carriageway, spanning 3,500 feet, was constructed at a cost of Rs. 128.3 million. The project includes the construction of a paved shoulder along the road and a 3,500-foot-long footpath for pedestrians and residents. During the inauguration, Mayor Wahab criticized political actions that disrupt Karachi’s economic activities, emphasizing the adverse impact on daily-wage workers, traders, and ordinary citizens.

Mayor Wahab condemned the politics of confrontation and protest, urging political figures to focus on development and construction. He highlighted the lack of previous development work in certain areas, which necessitated the current project. He emphasized the commitment of the Pakistan Peoples Party to serve and develop Karachi, asserting that causing hardship through protests was unacceptable.

He called on the government and Prime Minister to address disruptions to Karachi’s economy, advocating for decisive action against those who disturb law and order. Mayor Wahab reassured Karachi’s citizens of the administration’s vigilance, emphasizing the city’s progress and the continued undertaking of development projects to improve infrastructure and travel facilities.
