Islamabad Police Arrest Two Suspects in Sexual Assault Case

Islamabad: In a swift response to a serious sexual assault report, Islamabad Police have arrested two individuals accused of raping a woman earlier this month. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts to address crimes against women in the region.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the incident occurred on October 1, 2024, when the victim reported to the Sumbal police station that she had been assaulted by two men, identified as Tahir Abbas and Tasawar Abbas. Following her report, the police registered the case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched an intensive investigation to apprehend the suspects.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad, Syed Ali Raza, personally oversaw the response, emphasizing the urgency of capturing the assailants. Under his directive, a specialized team from the SSP Investigation and the Sumbal police utilized advanced scientific and technical methods to track down and arrest the accused swiftly.

The successful apprehension of the suspects led to their remand for further questioning to uncover additional details of the case. DIG Raza commended the police team’s prompt and effective action in the case and reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards sexual violence against women and children, vowing that those found guilty would face severe legal consequences.
