ISLAMABAD: In a concerted effort to combat crime and enhance public safety, the Islamabad Police have arrested 44 individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, and other criminal activities. The operation is part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at curbing crime in the federal capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made following directives from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Police teams apprehended 20 suspects linked to drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. Seized items include 1,140 grams of hashish, 1,165 grams of ice, three rifles, and 16 pistols of varying calibers, along with ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects, and investigations are ongoing.

In a parallel initiative targeting proclaimed offenders and individuals with prior criminal records, police detained 24 additional suspects. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and reiterated the ongoing “No to Weapon” campaign, which targets the illegal possession and public display of firearms. He underscored the importance of community cooperation and urged residents to report suspicious activities to local authorities or the Pucar-15 emergency helpline.
