ISLAMABAD, The Islamabad Capital Police have arrested 21 individuals, including seven professional beggars, in a crackdown against criminal activities within the city. The operations, conducted over the past 24 hours, also led to the recovery of drugs and weapons from those apprehended.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made as part of intensified efforts directed by Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan to eradicate crime in the city. The Aabpara police team arrested two individuals and seized heroin and alcohol. The Secretariat police apprehended one person with a firearm. Additionally, other police teams, including Karachi Company, Shalimar, Tarnol, Industrial-Area, Kirpa, and Phulgran, made arrests for possession of hashish, heroin, illegal firearms, alcohol, and involvement in illegal gas cylinder refilling.
Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are underway. The police’s ongoing crackdown against professional begging also led to the arrest of seven beggars, with cases registered under the beggar act.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has instructed police officials to further intensify the crackdown against criminal elements, emphasizing that the safety and security of citizens are of utmost priority and no leniency will be tolerated in this regard.
