Islamabad Officer Dies in Karakoram Highway Landslide Operation


Islamabad, Naib Subedar Khalid, a member of the Frontier Works Organization, has died from injuries sustained during a landslide clearance operation on the Karakoram Highway. The incident also resulted in serious injuries to Sapper Waseem and Lance Naik Azmat, who are currently recovering.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the tragic event unfolded when a landslide near Gonar Farm in Chillas obstructed the Karakoram Highway, prompting an immediate response from the military’s Frontier Works Organization. Under the leadership of Naib Subedar Khalid, the team engaged in the clearance operation to facilitate traffic and assist stranded individuals. However, a subsequent landslide during the operation inflicted critical injuries on the team members.



The incident highlights the risks faced by personnel engaged in disaster response efforts and underscores the commitment of the Pakistan Army to maintaining safety and accessibility in key transport routes, even under hazardous conditions.
