Islamabad: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering women through digital skills development, speaking at a webinar titled “Women Shaping the Tech Landscape of Pakistan” in celebration of World Youth Skills Day.

According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication announcement issued on 15 July 2024, Minister Khawaja detailed ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive tech industry where women can thrive equally. She highlighted efforts to overcome barriers that women face, including safe transportation and workplace inclusivity. The minister emphasized the significant role of women in driving national development and expressed the government’s vision to see more women not only participate in but also lead within the tech sector.

During her address, Khawaja pointed out that digital proficiency enables women to work remotely, providing flexibility to manage professional and personal commitments from home. She also noted that with seventy percent of Pakistan’s population being youth, equipping this demographic with modern digital skills is crucial for enhancing employability and advancing the country’s economic progress.
