Iran-Israel Conflict Sparks Global Peace Concerns: PM


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has raised alarm over the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, warning that it poses a significant threat to regional and global peace. This announcement came during a Federal Cabinet meeting held in Islamabad on Wednesday.



The Prime Minister criticized Israeli actions against Iran, labeling them as blatant aggression. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran, condemning the violence that has resulted in numerous casualties. Sharif emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and called on the international community to intervene.



In discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Sharif expressed support on behalf of Pakistan and reiterated his condemnation of the attacks. He also spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the regional situation.



Addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza, Sharif highlighted the high death toll among Palestinians due to Israeli actions and urged the international community to respond.



Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Turkiye this month to attend an OIC Foreign Ministers meeting, aiming to address these regional tensions.



Sharif also touched on Pakistan’s recent defense initiatives, following tensions with India, and acknowledged the efforts of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance internationally.



On domestic matters, the Prime Minister discussed the federal budget, noting ongoing parliamentary discussions. He praised the Finance Minister and his team for their collaborative approach with stakeholders.



Sharif mentioned negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, resulting in the acceptance of Pakistan’s request to avoid imposing agricultural taxes. He also highlighted a reduced tax rate for certain income brackets in the current fiscal budget.
