Interior Minister Naqvi Calls on Religious Scholars to Combat Terrorism

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged religious scholars from all sects to collaborate on developing an effective counter-terrorism narrative. This call was made during a meeting with Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, emphasizing the critical role of Ulema in national security and development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Naqvi discussed the initiation of a nationwide consultation campaign with Ulema, recognizing their historical contributions to guiding the nation in times of crisis, particularly in combating terrorism. He stressed the importance of their continued involvement in efforts to eradicate the terrorist threat in Pakistan.

The meeting also addressed broader issues such as the steps necessary for establishing peace, eliminating terrorism and sectarianism, and promoting inter-faith harmony and brotherhood. Minister Naqvi highlighted the insidious aim of terrorists to disrupt national unity and pledged to thwart their attempts with a united front.

Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad echoed the minister’s sentiments, reaffirming the national resolve to support the armed forces and security institutions in the fight against terrorism and extremism. He also praised Minister Naqvi’s efforts in fostering peace across the country.
