Islamabad, A farewell ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to honor the contributions of Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi. The event recognized Solangi’s efforts in promoting democracy and freedom of expression during his tenure in the interim government.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi expressed his gratitude towards the ministry’s officials and staff for their support and cooperation. He emphasized that serving as the Minister of Information was both an honor and a significant responsibility, highlighting the work done to enhance democratic values and ensure freedom of expression within the caretaker setup.
Solangi also acknowledged the support received from department heads within the ministry, attributing much of the success during his tenure to their collaboration. He voiced hope that his successor would continue to advance the causes of democracy and freedom of expression.
Shahera Shahid, the Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, lauded Solangi’s leadership, particularly noting the challenges he faced upon taking charge during a tumultuous period. She commended his dedication to upholding democratic principles and advocating for free speech, emphasizing the impact of his efforts despite the brief duration of his tenure.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to Solangi, symbolizing appreciation for his service. High-ranking officials, including the Additional Secretary, Principal Information Officer, and Directors General of the External and Internal Publicity Wings, as well as the Executive Director General of the Information Service Academy, participated in the event, marking a solemn farewell to a tenure defined by a steadfast commitment to democratic governance and the protection of free expression.
