Narayanpur, An Indian Armed Force (CAF) police constable was killed, and another was injured in an attack in the Narayanpur district of the Chhattisgarh state in India. The attack occurred in the Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine area under the Chhote Dongar police station limits.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the constable’s death and the injury to his colleague resulted from an improvised explosive device (IED) blast and subsequent firing by Naxalites on a patrolling team. This incident led to an encounter between the police and the attackers.
A senior police official informed that Constable Kamlesh Sahu of the CAF’s 9th battalion was killed in the incident, while another constable, Vinay Kumar Sahu, sustained minor injuries. A search operation involving a joint team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and District Reserve Guard is currently underway in the area.
In a separate incident in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, Maoist rebels reportedly shot dead a 40-year-old former panchayat member, Kamal Purty, who was also a former associate of the People’s Liberation Front of India.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Indian security forces in managing the Maoist insurgency and related violence in several parts of the country.
