Indian Hackers Target Qatari Websites in Retaliation for Death Penalty of Ex-Navy Officers

DOHA, A group of Indian hackers, known as the ‘Indian Cyber Force,’ has reportedly launched cyber attacks against Qatari websites. This action comes as a response to a Qatari court’s decision to sentence eight former Indian Navy officers to death in an espionage case.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the hacker group initiated these attacks on November 7, claiming responsibility for unauthorized server access, leaking credentials, defacing websites, and executing Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. They also allegedly breached the CCTV camera web servers in Qatar. A post from the Fusion Intelligence Center, shared by the Indian Cyber Force, confirmed the group’s claim of shutting down multiple Qatari websites following threats of cyber attacks.

This cyber offensive by the Indian Cyber Force was prompted by the death sentences awarded on October 26 to the ex-Indian Navy personnel. The group had previously indicated its intention to retaliate by exposing sensitive information related to Qatar.

The former naval officers, employed by Al Dahra company on a submarine project for Qatar, were detained over a year ago before receiving their sentences.

This is not the first time the Indian hacker group has been involved in such activities. Following the commencement of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, the group claimed to have hacked the Hamas website. Additionally, they had previously targeted Canadian websites in response to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s remarks implicating Indian secret agencies in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
