Bhopal: Indian forces have killed two tribal women in a cordon-and-search operation in Madhya Pradesh, a state governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The incident occurred in the Mundidadar-Ganeridadar-Parsatola forest area of Kanha National Park, located in Mandla district.
The police identified the women as members of the Naxalite movement, specifically from the Bhoramdev Area Committee of the Kanha Bhoramdev Division, which spans across the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh zone.
An official from the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters named one victim as Mamta, also known as Ramabai, who was the wife of Rakesh. She hailed from Murkudi under the jurisdiction of Karochi police station in Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. The other woman was identified as ACM Pramila, also known as Mase Mandavi, from Paligudhem under Chintalnar police station in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh.
Reports from Kashmir Media Service suggest that the women were killed in what is described as a fake encounter, and they were affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Maoist). This group has been advocating for independence from India.
