Indian education board’s textbook cover shows Jammu and Kashmir not part of India

Srinagar, August 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):India’s national level board of education for public and private schools, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has published a textbook cover, which does not show Jammu and Kashmir as a part of India as against New Delhi’s illogical claim over the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the development came to limelight on Monday when a Twitter handle posted the cover page of a CBSE Class 10 French textbook which showed Jammu and Kashmir excluded from Indian map.

When asked about it, a CBSE official tried to hush up the matter by saying that the cover was from an outdated edition of the French textbook. “The cover page of the Class 10 French textbook which ‘inadvertently’ shows a ‘wrong’ map is from an earlier phased-out edition from 2014 of the textbook. The revised version is available on the CBSE website,” the official said.

The question is, the critics say, Jammu and Kashmir which was not part of India in 2014, how could it now be the part of the country? The reality, they added, is Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory as per UN resolutions passed in as early as late 1940s and early 1950s.
