Jammu: An Indian army personnel tragically died from electrocution while traveling on the roof of a moving train in Jammu district, part of the Indian-administered territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place as the train journeyed from Bari Brahmana in Jammu towards Shikandrabad. The soldier, identified as 24-year-old Ram Chander Choudhary, climbed onto the train roof and came into contact with a live high-voltage overhead power line, resulting in his immediate death.
Choudhary was a native of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and served in the 125th Battalion of the Territorial Army stationed in Srinagar. The circumstances leading to his decision to climb onto the train roof remain unclear.
The untimely death of the young soldier has prompted discussions regarding the safety measures and protocols for military personnel during travel. The army and local authorities are expected to investigate the incident further to prevent future occurrences.
