Islamabad: India cannot unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh stated, describing such an action as illegal and contrary to international law. Speaking at the launch of a research report in Islamabad, Sheikh emphasized the potential repercussions of escalating tensions over water resources.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister’s comments were made during the presentation of the report titled “Water, Climate, and Diplomacy: Securing Pakistan’s Indus Basin Future.” He highlighted the serious consequences that ongoing disputes over water could have for both South Asia and global peace, urging all parties to adhere to established international agreements.
