Pakistan Reports Progress in Macroeconomic Stability Through Fiscal Reforms


Murree: Pakistan has achieved substantial progress in restoring macroeconomic stability, as stated by Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Federal Finance Minister. This progress is attributed to prudent fiscal management and essential structural reforms.



According to Radio Pakistan, Schehzad shared these insights during the concluding ceremony of a four-day National Tax Seminar held in Murree, co-organized by the Pakistan Tax Bar Association and the Lahore Tax Bar Association. He highlighted the country’s improving macroeconomic outlook and structural reform agenda, as well as the key priorities outlined in the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. Additionally, he discussed the implementation of Pakistan’s New Tax Operating Model.



Schehzad noted that these reforms have been acknowledged through favorable assessments by international financial institutions. As a result, Pakistan has renewed access to international capital markets and is experiencing growing investor confidence.



The seminar also included technical sessions on topics such as provincial sales tax, tax policy, and issues related to direct and indirect taxation. The Presidents of the Pakistan Tax Bar Association and the Lahore Tax Bar Association expressed their appreciation for the government’s ongoing engagement with the tax community. They reaffirmed their commitment to constructive dialogue aimed at developing a simple, transparent, technology-driven, and business-friendly tax system.
