ISLAMABAD: Investigations led by Pakistan’s security agencies have reportedly unveiled a connection between the banned Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Azad Kashmir and Indian entities, according to Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Tarar addressed the media in Islamabad, revealing that the investigation had exposed an India-linked digital disinformation network. This network was allegedly aimed at disseminating anti-Pakistan propaganda through coordinated social media campaigns. The Minister noted that a suspect, who provided digital marketing services, had been apprehended by security agencies. The investigation suggested that the suspect’s services had links to India, with payments for promoting anti-Pakistan content purportedly originating from there.

Further findings indicated that a network of bot farms was operational, tasked with spreading misinformation and amplifying content that targeted Pakistan’s sovereignty, government, armed forces, and state institutions. The suspect reportedly confessed that a considerable amount of the content he handled was associated with the proscribed Joint Action Committee’s activities in Azad Kashmir.

Minister Tarar accused the JAC of attempting to undermine the Kashmir cause and weaken the ties between the Kashmiri people and Pakistan. He urged the committee members to engage in the democratic process instead of resorting to violence, which he claimed had led to the martyrdom of Kashmiri police personnel and a disruption of law and order in the region. Tarar asserted that the government’s stance was supported by irrefutable evidence of the group’s links with India.

He emphasized that the people of Kashmir had rejected violent politics, thereby affirming the unbreakable bond between Pakistan and Kashmir. The Information Minister also stressed the government’s obligation to counter misinformation and highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to global peace under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He expressed optimism about Pakistan’s continued progress and development.
