IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Intensifies International Crackdown, Arrests Fugitive from Saudi Arabia

Punjab, in a significant development for Punjab law enforcement, a fugitive wanted by Bahawalnagar police was apprehended in Saudi Arabia and brought back to Pakistan, following a directive from Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, to accelerate the crackdown on criminals residing abroad.

According to Punjab Police, the operation is part of an intensified effort against fugitive and proclaimed offenders who have fled the country. The arrested individual, Abdul Ghaffar, had escaped to Saudi Arabia after committing a crime in Bahawalnagar. The Punjab Police, having issued a red notice through Interpol, successfully pursued and arrested Ghaffar with the cooperation of Interpol in Saudi Arabia. He was taken into custody by Bahawalnagar police upon his arrival at the airport.

The spokesperson for Punjab Police revealed that with this arrest, the total number of criminals apprehended from foreign countries this year has risen to 144. These arrests have been made across various regions, including America, Britain, Europe, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Gulf countries.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police team for successfully tracking and apprehending the Category A fugitive from abroad. He emphasized the need for a swift legal process to ensure the perpetrator faces justice. Moreover, Dr. Anwar called for an intensified crackdown on dangerous proclaimed offenders involved in more serious cases, advocating for regular information sharing with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Interpol, and other institutions to facilitate these efforts.

This proactive approach by the Punjab Police in collaborating internationally signifies a robust strategy to combat crime and bring fugitives to justice.
