Islamabad, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has released a statement detailing comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming 2024 elections in Punjab. The announcement comes as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar assured that the Punjab Police is fully prepared to maintain order and facilitate a peaceful election. He emphasized the collaboration between Punjab Police and other national institutions of Pakistan in this endeavor. Dr. Anwar warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals who breach the election commission’s code of conduct, stating that any violations would be dealt with decisively.
The IG Punjab highlighted that all law enforcement agencies, including armed and civil armed forces, are coordinated under the leadership of the Election Commission to manage any potential conflicts or law and order situations during the election. He mentioned that the Punjab Police, in partnership with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), has installed CCTV cameras at the most sensitive polling stations for security surveillance and monitoring of election materials.
Additionally, Dr. Anwar pointed out that a location and monitoring app, equipped with modern technology as an alternative to the wireless system, has been launched by Safe Cities and is available to all police officers. He expressed commitment to providing a secure environment for the election, similar to the efforts made in enhancing the safety and aesthetics of police stations.
Dr. Anwar concluded by stating that a fair and free election would pave the way for an elected democratic government, which is crucial for the country’s progress. He reaffirmed the commitment of Punjab Police and other national institutions to uphold law and order during the election period.
