Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, has paid tribute to the 1,743 Punjab Police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. According to Punjab Police, these officers were commemorated on Police Martyrs’ Day for their contributions to maintaining peace and security in Pakistan. The observance, scheduled for August 5, will coincide with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, prompting ceremonies to be held with special reverence.

Abdul Kareem emphasized the importance of remembering these fallen heroes, stating they are the pride of the nation for sacrificing their lives to combat terrorism and crime. He also acknowledged the families of the martyrs, particularly the mothers who have endured the loss of their sons for the country’s future. The IG has assured that the welfare of these families remains a priority for Punjab Police.

To honor the martyrs, Punjab Police has planned several ceremonies. These will include Guard of Honour at the martyrs’ graves, recitations of the Holy Quran, and special prayers in mosques. Senior police officers are also expected to visit the families of the martyrs, underscoring the lasting impact of their sacrifices.
