Hurriyat Conference Leaders Convene in Srinagar for First Meeting Since Article 370 Revocation

Srinagar: Top figures from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference assembled in Srinagar on Tuesday for their first official meeting following the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, a decision implemented under India’s Modi administration.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting included prominent leaders such as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Ghani Butt, and Bilal Ghani Lone. The gathering, hosted at Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s residence, was marked by a shared video, highlighting the importance of this reunion in the current turbulent political climate characterized by frequent killings, raids, and arrests.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq took to social media to express his feelings about the gathering, appreciating the chance to reconnect with colleagues after more than five years apart. He lamented the continued detention of some members, yet expressed satisfaction at seeing Abdul Ghani Butt in attendance and in good health.
