Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) and Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group conducted an executive training session focusing on artificial intelligence and digital transformation. The session, titled “AI for Public Sector Leaders,” took place at HEC Islamabad, targeting the enhancement of digital capabilities across federal bodies.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the programme was organised following a directive from the Prime Minister’s Office aimed at advancing digital transformation across federal ministries and entities. Held in HEC’s Smart Classroom, the event was attended by senior management members of the commission.

Dr. Jawad Shah, Senior Solution Architect from Alibaba Cloud in Singapore, led the session, offering insights on the evolving landscape of AI. He discussed practical AI applications in the public sector and opportunities for using data-driven solutions for organisational transformation. The programme also allowed participants to explore strategic implications and challenges of AI implementation in public institutions.

Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, highlighted the necessity of adopting emerging technologies to improve institutional efficiency and decision-making. He reiterated HEC’s dedication to enhancing digital capabilities and equipping leaders with the necessary skills to navigate technological changes. Executive Director HEC Dr. Zia Ul Haq was also present.

The initiative underscores HEC’s commitment to fostering digital transformation and modernising higher education governance through innovative approaches and strategic insights.
