Hamas Frees Russian Captive, Putin Acknowledges ‘Humanitarian Act’


Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his gratitude to Hamas after the release of a Russian national, Aleksandr Trufanov, who had been held captive. In a recent meeting at the Kremlin, Putin met with Trufanov and his family, highlighting Russia’s strong ties with the Palestinian people as a pivotal factor in securing Trufanov’s freedom.



During the meeting, Putin emphasized Russia’s commitment to replicating such diplomatic successes, expressing hope that others facing similar situations could also find freedom. He acknowledged the political leadership of Hamas for responding to Russia’s appeal and executing what he described as a humanitarian act.



Putin congratulated Trufanov on his release, underscoring the significance of international cooperation and dialogue in resolving such complex situations.
