Teenage Sensation Makes History at Munich Open


Munich: Diego Dedura Palomero achieved a landmark victory at the Munich Open, becoming the first player born in 2008 or later to win an ATP tour match. The 17-year-old German secured the win after his opponent, Denis Shapovalov, retired while trailing 7-6, 3-0. Dedura, who entered the tournament as a lucky loser, celebrated the historic win with evident joy.



In other matches, the tournament saw several notable performances. Third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime faced an unexpected defeat at the hands of Mariano Navone in a three-set match. Meanwhile, fourth seed Ugo Humbert successfully overcame Nicolás Jarry to advance further in the competition.



Fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo delivered a commanding performance against defending champion Jan-Lennard, winning with scores of 6-0 and 6-2. The day also featured a tightly contested match where Jakub Mensik was narrowly defeated by Yannick Hanfmann in three sets.
