ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating the encroachment mafia and illegal constructions in the federal capital. The minister emphasized that the “Operation Cleanup” initiative will continue unabated until its objectives are fully achieved.

According to Radio Pakistan, Naqvi chaired a special meeting in Islamabad to discuss various initiatives. The meeting considered proposals for installing sewage treatment plants at drains flowing into Rawal Dam to ensure clean water supply to residents. Additionally, directives were issued to complete the development of a new block at the Parliament Lodges by the end of the next month.

The meeting also focused on the upgrade plan for the Capital Police College, which includes the construction of new classrooms, a mess, and barracks for trainees. Progress on ongoing and new development projects in Islamabad was reviewed, with updates on the submission of designs by three international companies for a new convention center. The evaluation of these designs is in progress, with construction anticipated to commence in the final week of June.

Furthermore, the meeting was informed that work is ongoing for eleven new police stations across the city, highlighting the government’s continued focus on infrastructure and public safety enhancements.
