Government Promotes Solar Power Amid Economic Challenges


Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed today that the government is taking steps to encourage and promote solar power, aiming to make installation more appealing under new prosumer regulations. This initiative is part of broader efforts to address energy needs and economic challenges.



According to Radio Pakistan, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted during a question hour that despite limited resources, the government continues to provide relief to the public. Emphasizing this commitment, he noted a 129 billion rupees fuel subsidy package was implemented to shield consumers from rising global oil prices, exacerbated by the Middle East conflict. Additionally, the government allocated 716 billion rupees for the Benazir Income Support Program this fiscal year, aimed at offering financial assistance to over ten million families.



Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary, responding to a separate calling attention notice, stated that development work on Sector 1-12 of Islamabad is nearing completion. The final phase of handing over possession is expected to commence in the coming weeks. The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on Monday at 5 p.m.
